Living Choices at Deerfield

Independent Living

Deerfield offers 77 beautifully appointed cottages designed especially for senior living, ranging in size from smaller residences in the original St. Giles neighborhood to the newer, larger cottages built during the expansion. Our 10 villas offer a unique alternative for active senior living. Connected at the garage wall, the villas have around 1,600 – 1,650 square feet of living space, with the option of adding additional square footage for a great room. Our cluster homes, found in the St. Giles neighborhood, are separate residences with outside entrances clustered in one of three buildings. The cluster homes have been newly refurbished to complement the Arts and Crafts look of the newer Deerfield. Beautiful independent living buildings, Timson, Henry and Tuton Halls, offer apartment homes ranging in square footage from 800 to 2,517, with 10 different floor plans. All apartment buildings are accessible to the community center and the new health and wellness center through enclosed connectors.

Assisted Living

Deerfield’s newly expanded and renovated Haden Hall offers 62 apartments, and a new fourth floor dining venue with sweeping long range views of the northeast mountains (and on a clear day, a view of the legendary Biltmore Estate). Each of the assisted living suites contains a living room, bedroom, efficiency kitchen with refrigerator, sink and microwave oven, and a fully handicapped-accessible bathroom. Residents bring their own furniture, pictures and plants. Light and airy, with 9-foot ceilings, the suites offer freedom from maintaining a household, but retain the feeling of a home. Residents in assisted living receive help with bathing, dressing and monitoring of medications as needed.

Skilled Nursing

For recuperative, long or short-term nursing care needs, the Simonds Health Care Center provides residents with 24-hour care, accommodations, and services for skilled nursing. All areas of Health Services are under the direct supervision and responsibility of a licensed administrator, the Director of Health Care Services, and the Medical Director, a licensed physician, to assure quality care. Residents in the Skilled Nursing Center receive three meals a day, and benefit from transportation, activities, a beautiful secure outdoor garden space, and the kind of dedicated nursing care for seniors that Deerfield has been known for over the last half-century.
