Brooks-Howell is a unique community a mile from Downtown Asheville nestled in ten acres of natural habitat. This non-profit retirement community was established primarily for individuals who have spent  a lifetime in ministry and has evolved into a diverse group of individuals living collectively through faith.


Brooks-Howell Home is owned and governed by United Methodist Women of The United Methodist Church as a retirement community for deaconesses, home missionaries, home missioners, missionaries, staff of United Methodist Women, and others approved for residency. A local board supports the operation of the home under policies and administration of United Methodist Women.

Surrounded by the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains, Asheville is the cultural and medical center for western North Carolina. Lake Junaluska Assembly, several churches and colleges are located nearby.

BROOKS-HOWELL HOME is a non-profit, charitable, continuing care retirement community which is owned and supported by United Methodist Women of The United Methodist Church.
As a ministry to retired missionaries and deaconesses, United Methodist Women (formerly Women’s Division) staff, and others, the Mission of Brooks-Howell Home is:

To affirm each resident’s dignity, independence and value;

To provide an atmosphere for an enriching life style in a secure, stimulating Christian community;

To encourage and assist residents in reaching and maintaining their full potential in the area of physical, social, and spiritual well being

To implement new programs and ministries which address current and future needs.
